I just saw this today. And I must say, it is the best film I've seen since The Lord of the Rings, even contests it for the title of greatest movie ever, along with The Shawshank Redemption.

This is the true story of Sir James Barrie, a famous playwrite in turn of the century London. This follows his life after a failed play of his.

He meets a widower and her four young boys. He uses them as a muse, writing "Peter Pan" based on their own summer exploits together. This further estranges him and his wife, who runs off with a friend of his, and also makes them a subject of scandel and speculation.

In the end the woman dies. In her will she leaves co-guardianship of her children between him and the children's grandmother.

END SPOILERS!!!

I must say again that this is one of the greatest movies that I have ever seen. I must say that this will be the role that Johnny Depp receives his long overdue Oscar for. This is also a ringer for best picture. I recommend it highly to you all.

It's masterfully directed, artfully written and skillfully acted out. It is a must-see!

i really want to see it, but no one will go with me because, as fiery red so aptly put it, "nothing blows up"

I had my ticket payed for. I don't have to worry about my funding, movie-wise, anyway.

Finally! Somebody else who's seen it!

Glad to hear you enjoyed it! It's definately one of my top 10. But, then again, so is The Lord of the Rings, as a trilogy and not each individual part.

Even as an individual part, the RotK would make my top 10, only itd be a bit lower in the order =p

I remember reading an article about the movie shortly after seeing it. It said that, while they didn't show anything false, besides the husband still clinging to life when Sir James M. Barrie character came around, the true ending was far from a happy one.

Sir James M. Barrie dies in World War I. Michael drowned as an undergraduate in Oxford and Peter committed suicide.

I guess they ended the movie best when they did.

i agree with woody up there that i'd rather watch lotr (as im very much obsessed with it) but you cannot compace lotr to finding neverland. i believe that finding neverland was a brilliant movie. Johnny Depp... he played the part so well and that boy - if i'm not correct isn't that the same boy who is to appear again with johnny in charlie and the chocolate factory comming soon? anyway i thought the movie was very sad but excellent. reccomend it to everyone - it has to be my fav movie with the only exception of lotr.

Yeah, he is. Johnny recommended him for the part after Finding Neverland.

Excellent film. I didn't know anything about it going in. Well made. Fantastic acting. The true sign that it was a good film is that everybody in the theater was moved when it was over. Complete stunned silence. No movement as the credits began to play (except for some grabbing of tissues). And that was from EVERYBODY.

Well done.
I highly recommend to anybody who is willing to watch a non-action movie.

I agree. It ended in a stunned silence and a memorable fade out.

Why oh why has Johnny Depp NOT won an oscar yet!! His performance, as always, spectacular- though i dont think the script was true to James Barries personality- more hollywood fabricating there- however, brilliant movie, very sweet and moving.

I saw this movie and I was like "YES! He'll win the Oscar for sure!" Then I saw Ray and was like "DARN! Jammie Foxx will win the Oscar for sure!"

Johnny Depp is easily one of the most talented actors of all time. I enjoy his performace whenever I see him in a movie. And he's long overdue for his Oscar, but Jammie Foxx had the better performance for the year and deserved the Oscar he won. Maybe next year is Depp's time.

So what did they get wrong you think? Are you one of those people who think the guy was a pedophile who went after the family soley for the younge boys? If so, then I disagree.

Other then that, I only know how they all died and that the boys' father was still alive when James came into their lives. Nothing more is known to me on the subject.

Such a shame that Ray had to coincide with this, I agree totally.

Yeah. But my guess is that Johnny Depp will be the recipiant of a Lifetime Achievement Oscar, along with one or two of his own, down the road.
