Dear Neurolanis, later I saw you had the Green Mile listed already, so I owe you an apology. Yet, between you and me only (hoping the moderator misses this self-discriminating statement), my entry did not quite aim at titles, anyway.

I haven't found The Secret of Nimh in here anywhere! What is wrong with you people?

Okay, maybe that's harsh, but c'mon, it's one of the best animated films ever made.

Now, I actually read that novel before seeing the movie... it was "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh".

I saw the movie at a very young age, but I did read the book in school at a young, although slightly older, age. I also read the sequal in school even further down the road.

I wasn't old enough to read when I saw that movie for the first time. So I must've been four or I saw it early in my fifth year. That movie is probably the reason I had nightmare every night when I was in grade school.

There's a bunch of movies I'm thinking of buying on DVD. Have any of you ever heard of "Labrinth", "Magic Legend of Leprechauns", "Odyssey", "Ruslan and Ludila" (Russian fairy tales), or the tv series "Captain Scarlet"??

Captain Scarlet looks very interesting. It has received raving reviews on Amazon. It was made by the same guy who bade "Thunderbirds", only this one ran a single season, and was more for adults -- serious, more complex stories, and more violent. Visually it is considered a masterpiece.

Just watched Magic Legend of Leprechauns a few weeks back on SciFi channel, it was pretty good. Used to watch Captain Scarlet on The Bob Wilkins show Captain Cosmic, and enjoyed it as a kid. Labyrinth is fabulous, I have it on VHS, and am planning on getting DVD soon (I believe Walmart has it for $8.88)

Labrynth starred David Bowie and is indeed quite good. It is available on DVD, though I haven't yet picked up a copy of it myself...

"Interview with the Vampire" brilliant adaptation, should be considering the screenplay was done by the author.

i have to dispute a ciouple, although movies such as home alone may be amusing to watch, i seriously doubt you could call it work of a genius or one of the best movies- if you'd look at the criteria. I would say monty python however is genius, but thats a biased opinion

Moulin Rouge, or actually most Baz Luhrmann (sp?)

Interview With the Vampire was adapted by Anne Rice? It shows.

I started that book a long time ago after I watched the movie, as my sister has all of the books. I was really too younge for it and gave it up after a little while. I really want to start it again, though.

You might as well preemptively put MirrorMask on here, since it looks like it's going to be that good. It's written by Neil Gaiman, who's won probably every fantasy writing award on Earth, and it's directed by Dave McKean, who makes awesome artwork. Also, it won Best Narrative Drama at Sundance.

I just looked it up. It looks good, if not a little reminiscient of The Talisman by the sound of it.
