I was wondering why one of my favorite movies of all time never ended up in the theater. Instead it was only released on DVD and has been gaining popularity through word of mouth. Any insights?

I believe that this is one of the best movies that i have ever seen it is funny but not to funny it is violent but not to gory and it is a well written masterpiece if you havent seen it you should be shot.

I think the reason that it wasnt on screen because the producers exceided their budget and didnt want to take a risk by using a lot more. the sponsors also thaaught the movie didnt go the way they wanted..... Grudge........

I have seen it and own it, well... my sister really owns it... but it was an excelent movie. Word of mouth gets around. Just about all the people I know have seen it and enjoy it.

It is a good movie. Funny, gory (but not overly so), a little odd in places, and educational (I now know how they came about the phrase "rule of thumb" ). I never knew that it wasn't released in theaters. It's such a shame.

That's strange Magus, practically everyone I know has never heard of it. Unfortunately.

It's one of my favourite movies too and I'm looking forward to the sequel.

I've heard that one of the reasons it never went out in theaters was because it was too violent. The directors or some other important people thought it would raise crime level or violence too high. Anyways, they thought it was kind of dangerous, I think. I'm not sure, though. I might have it completely wrong.

There's a sequel? Where can I learn some more about it? I'd imagine it would pale in comparison to the original.

But this movie is quite educational. It teaches kids at home that crawling through ventalation systems doesn't work out so well.

Never before did I know where the expression "rule of thumb" came from. Thanks to this movie I do.

lol. Yes, it was quite educational.

As for the sequel, you can learn more at Boondock Saints.com, the official site, but all it says there is that it hasn't been started yet. On the other hand, at imdb.com, they say that it's in production and that it'll be out in 2004. It's really very confused. Troy Duffy must be having some problems with the movie, or something.

By the way, I think it's going to be called All Saints Day.

That title would be fitting.

By 2004? I doubt that. There's only about 2 1/2 months left in 2004, and if they say it hasn't started yet...

As I said, it's all rumours. Some people even claim they've already seen it and so far, their descriptions of the plot are pretty much the same.

"And shepherds shall we be, for Thee, my LORD, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. And so we shall flow a river forth to Thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be, In Nomini Patri, et Fili, Spiritus Sancti."

oh, we're The Porters. May I take your bags? You can dock here, here and here.

It's more a cult classic now. People have now heard of and seen it now. It's a movement.
