Oh. My. God. Watch this, if you watch nothing else all summer, including Star Wars, Spiderman, and anything else cinema related. It *rocks*. One of the best story shapes I've ever seen, cracking acting, thoughtful story... Tense, well-directed. Just brilliant. This should win awards.

So true! Just blew me away. D'you want to know the storyline? You don't need to because the movie's so good that it lets you know exactly what you need at every point. Only one thing grated- the product placement, but other than that I could sing this film's praises until the cows come home.

It was an excellent movie. Spielberg did a great job of keeping it in the shape of a sci-fi short story. There was a little P.K. Dick in there.

The only thing that bothered me was that it peaked intellectually too early. There was still plenty of action for the end, but the thought provoking question was solved well before.

Definitely a must-see for sci-fi fans. I respect Spielberg more and more with each film he makes.

Well I know some of the storyline...

In the near future, they can predict who is going to commit crime, and arrest the criminal before they do the deed. Of course something goes wrong. A cop (Tom Cruise) is fingered as being a murderer, and you can guess what happens next...

Haven't seen it yet....

Personally, I consider this film one of the best SF films ever made.

I don't think it peaked too early intellectually, it was on the right time - since people would already have got it if it were to be revealed later.

Minority Report definetly has a place in the pantheon of greatest science fiction films.

"We stop crime before it happens."

It kind of makes you think about Human nature. We so easily give up our freedoms for securities. But it was Benjamin Franklin who once said "Those who give up their freedoms for securities deserve neither.".

It's also interesting when you compare this to another one of Philip K. Dick's works, "Paycheck".

The whole concept of "The Minority report" is that you can change your future if you foresee it. You always have a choice. "Paycheck", on the other hand, says that there is no choice involved. To see you future would cause self-manifested destiny, the act of bringing forth the future you see.

There we have it; two completely different views on precognition by the very same man.
